How to Commit to Consistency

If you want to succeed at anything and wonder what’s the magic ingredient, let me tell you something super-important…

Talent is overrated.

Effort can be wasted.

And passion can lead you astray.

You see, nothing is more important in achieving success that a commitment to consistency. That’s where the power lies, and the best part: It’s all within your control:

To commit to consistency … or not.
To build your routines and habits to support what you’re doing … or just wing it every day and hope it works out.
To take the adult view that you must do the work even when you’d rather do something else – anything else.

Maybe the most important thing about committing to consistency is understanding what success will demand and creating your “why” statement.

You need to examine your motives: Why do you want to make this desire come to life? Drill deep into your motivations. Get to the core of your desire.

Then, do your homework. If you want to run a marathon next year, then find out what kind of training schedule is required. If you want to lose 25 pounds, then figure out the exercise and diet regimen that will get the job done.

THEN you decide if you want the goal enough to do the work that’s required – and if your “why” remains solid, then you have all the power you need to keep that commitment to consistency.

Success often boils down to why you want something and how hard you’re willing to work for it. Embrace this truth, and you’ll discover a freedom that surpasses talent, effort, or passion.
